Winter Storm and MD State Of Emergency
Governor Hogan Declares the State of Emergengy in Anticipation of Winter Storm Jonas
With the impending arrival of significant snowfall, Maryland Governor, Larry Hogan, has officially declared a state of emergency effective January 22 through Saturday, January 23. The state of emergency came in advance of this major snowstorm (Winter Storm Jonas) that has been forecasted to hit the Mid-Atlantic region this weekend. Heavy snowfall is predicted to arrive over the weekend to Philadelphia and maybe further north. Governors in North Carolina and Virginia and they mayor of the District of Columbia have also declared emergencies.
The National Weather Service said Wednesday that 12 to 16 inches of snow could come down between Friday night and Sunday morning. More than 50 million people could be affected by the “potentially paralyzing storm”, National Weather Service Director Louis Uccellini said on a call with reporters on Thursday evening.
Know the Difference:
Winter Storm Outlook – Winter storm conditions are possible in the next 2 to 5 days.
Winter Weather Advisory – Winter weather conditions are expected to cause significant inconveniences and may be hazardous. When caution is used, these situations should not be life threatening.
Winter Storm Watch – Winter storm conditions are possible within the next 36 to 48 hours. People in a watch area should review their winter storm plans and stay informed about weather conditions.
Winter Storm Warning – Life-threatening, severe winter conditions have begun or will begin within 24 hours. People in a warning area should take precautions immediately.
What does a “State of Emergency” mean?
States of emergencies have been declared to allow officials to coordinate and request emergency resources and support. A state of emergency also allows the Governor to access certain resources, like the National Guard, to increase the State’s response.
When a state of emergency is declared it’s a good indicator that residents should remain alert and follow official orders, news stations, and weather forecasts to be informed of the situation

Starting in 2009 Preston Ford was 109th in the nation out of all 3,300 Ford dealers. In 2010 Preston Ford was 93rd in the Top 100 Ford Dealers in the nation. In 2011, Preston Ford again moved up in the ranks to 89th place for their second Top 100 finish. When 2012 came around, Preston made it to 102nd place – just barely missing the Top 100 Ford Dealers in the nation. However, in 2013 Preston Ford returned to the ranks of the Top 100 equaling their highest mark to date – 89th in the nation. That record was shattered in 2014 when they finished at 72nd in the nation! They are looking to have similar success as the year winds down in 2015.

Monday, December 21st, the US Congress passed the PATH Act that expands the Section 179 deduction limit thru December 31st 2015. This has quickly become a huge deal for local businesses big and small. It gives them the ability to write-off 100% of equipment purchases, including vehicles for business use, up to $500,000.
In addition to the increased limit of $500,000, Section 179 deduction will also reinstate the 50% Bonus Depreciation. The bill is a one-year, retroactive extension of the tax breaks, even though it only last through the end of this month. Only this 2015 tax year will be covered by the measure and therefore it is a good business decision for many to buy/finance equipment, such as new vehicle purchases from Preston Ford Commercial Trucks, immediately to make the December 31, 2015 cutoff for the write-off provisions.
“We are excited to hear that the Section 179 deduction has been expanded,” says Dave Wilson Sr., President of Preston Ford and Preston Automotive Group, “Not only will our Ford Commercial Truck customers and buyers be able to take advantage of the expansion but we as a business will be able to as well.” Preston Ford’s Business Preferred Network Commercial Truck Department has seen a large increase of businesses buying new commercial Ford vehicles since the bill was passed.
Preston Ford, Ford Dealership of Maryland and Delaware, is currently in pursuit of becoming a Top 85 Ford Dealer in the Nation and has helped accommodate the bills passing by lowering prices on their Ford commercial vehicles and other Ford vehicles. This tax break extension will also directly affect sales in the Preston Nissan Commercial Division. As of now, Preston Nissan of Maryland has over 50 new commercial vehicles: The NV Cargo Van, Passenger Van and NV 200. These vehicles are mostly left all white to make it easy for businesses to customize them with their own insignia and color scheme. This tax deduction expansion is huge and business owners will understand that now is the perfect time for them to buy!

What’s New For 2016
The 2016 Nissan Altima has undergone what Nissan officials are calling “one of the most extensive midcycle makeovers in Nissan history.” What would have called for a minor tweaking of the front fascia and restyling the taillights has recently evolved into much more. With other vehicles in the Altima’s class undergoing redesigns this year, the Altima does the same and only three years after its last full redesign none-the-less. Some are calling the 2016 Altima The Maxima’s Mini-me with the redo of the front fascia, headlights, taillights, reshaped hood and fenders, refreshed wheel designs and much more!
Performance
The 2016 Altima will retain its two engine choices, the 2.5-liter four-cylinder and 3.5-liter V6. Both are paired solely with the Continuously Variable Automatic Transmission (CVT). The V6 is good for 270 horsepower and the smaller choice puts out 182 hp. The fuel-economy estimates stand at 27 mpg in the city and 39 on the highway for the smaller engine and 22/32 for the larger V6 — same as 2015.
Interior
The cabin is the quietest the Altima has ever been. Nissan brought in premium materials to create a serene cabin full of technology. The redesigned center stack has a more ergonomic layout, giving you easier access to all the controls including the available 8-inch touchscreen.
Features and Accessories
NissanConnect will bring the world to your fingertips with all of it’s app capabilities, and the Bose sound system will provide the perfect amount of bass or treble in the 2016 Nissan Altima. The rearview camera is available on the new Altima, which is always a nice feature to have when backing up. The dual climate control is nice to have when riding with two people.
Safety Features
The Nissan Safety Shield philosophy is a comprehensive approach to safety that guides the development and engineering of every vehicle we make. It’s Nissan’s way of looking out for you and yours. All models include the following safety features: antilock brakes, traction and stability control, the full arrangement of airbags, as well as the aforementioned rearview camera. NissanConnect is also great for keeping the 2016 Altima’s passengers safe. There are several plans that buyers could choose including one that will call for help if the system senses there’s been an accident.
Pricing
The starting MSRP for the new, 2016 Nissan Altima is $22,500 for the 2.5 model. The newly introduced SR (Sport) model starts at $24,470 and the top model SL is only starting at $28,570.

When it comes to the Top Vehicles of 2015, the winner is the best selling and most profitable Ford: The Ford F series. Loaded models like the 2016 Ford F-150 Limited were some of the biggest contributors to Fords “Bottom Line” in 2015. The F series is Americas best-selling vehicle lineup.
Why is it Fords “Best Vehicle”
Ford investors don’t consider fuel efficiency, towing capacity or packages when it comes to considering what the “best vehicle is.” It’s all and only about profit. Even though we don’t know the exact profits of the F series because Ford obviously keeps that a close secret we can only safely assume that no Ford vehicles come close to generating as much profit as the 2015 North American Truck of the Year. Even with the Ford Motor Company halting sales last year they were still able to sell an impressive 753,851 F-series trucks in the US, making it American’s best seller! Currently, through November Ford sales were up 2.3%.
Best Seller and Most Profitable
Of course, the sheer number of sales makes the F series a big deal. But to become Fords Top Vehicle, the investors at Ford are looking for profit. The average transition price for an F-Series truck in November was $42,800. That’s up $2,700 from a year ago. Low-interest rates, cheaper gas prices, and longer terms loans available all played a role in that increase. We’re sure the redesign for the 2015 model year had a little to do with it has well.
Customers are looking for Luxury Vehicles
The Ford motor company is really good at enticing customers to purchase features on the F series that were unheard of in a pickup truck 25 years ago. Ford more or less invented the idea of a luxury pickup with its first King Ranch model in 2001. General Motor and Chrysler have since followed suit, but nothing compares to the Ford F-series. The F-series isn’t just America’s best-selling vehicle, its Americans best-seller over $50,000, too.
So to sum this all up, given its huge sales volumes and likely profit margins, the F-series is, without a doubt, the biggest and best of the Ford lineup in North America — and North America is the most profitable market region.

North American Car of The Year Finalist
Preston Automotive is proud to have two manufacturers make the list of finalist this year. The Mazda MX-5 Miata took the nomination for the North American Car of the Year, and the Nissan Titan XD has been named a finalist for the North American Truck of the Year.
Today at the Detroit auto show the Automotive Press Association announced that five out of six finalists are import vehicles. This group of finalist ties the 2012 group of the finalist for the second-highest number of imports at five.
The group of finalist are chosen from a very short list of ten cars and 12 pickups, crossovers and SUVs created by a jury of 53 automotive journalists.
The Mazda Miata beat out an impressive list of competitors for this distinguished honor, including the BMW 7 Series, Cadillac C76, Chevy Camaro, Chevy Volt, Kia Optima and Toyota Prius. This legendary two-seater has a 155-hp 2.0-liter four-cylinder with a six-speed manual; a six-speed automatic is optional. Its use of aluminum keeps weight down, so the Miata remains eminently fun in the twists and turns that you’ll seek out whenever you hit the road.
The all-new 2016 Nissan Titan XD hasn’t even hit the ground at Preston Nissan, but it should be available within the next month. The Titan took the votes from the Honda CR-V, Kia Sorento, Lexus RX, Telsa Model X and Toyota Tacoma. The 2016 Titan XD will use a fortified version of the beefy, fully boxed frame that carries the current Titan. The Titan will be able to handle a payload rating in the excess or 2000 and max towing of 12,000 pounds. The Titan was also a finalist in 2004.
Vehicles must be new or significantly altered to be eligible to become a North America Car or Truck of the year. Judges are looking for a flawless design and a superior driver satisfaction rating among many other things.
The Volkswagen Golf and Ford F-150 were named 2015 Car and Truck of the Year.
Ford least all automakers with ten wins since the awards inception in 1994. Chrysler, Nissan, and Hyundai have won multiple awards.
