Bringing My Car to College: Yes or No?
It’s that time of year again: back to school. Some are back already and some have a couple more weeks of summer vacation left. But there’s one main consideration that you have to think about: Should I bring my car to college? Of course everyone would like to have a car on campus, but is it allowed or is it practical? We’ll help you see the pro’s and con’s of whether or not you should bring your car with you.
First of all, are you even allowed to have one on campus? That will depend on where you’re attending. Some will flat out not allow freshman or upperclassmen to bring a car with them. Others will allow it, but students will be required to purchase a parking pass. Typically information like this can be found on the college or university’s website, so you will want to make sure you know their policy before you get there for move-in.
Cost is another important thing to think about. Many college students are on an Easy Mac and Ramen-Noodle type of budget, so gas, repairs, parking permits, and other costs are out of the question. If this is the case then maybe you should leave the car at home. If you are going to bring it make sure you have some money saved up for these unexpected costs which include parking tickets don’t forget.
Find out about alternative transportation options too. Many campuses will have a school-operated shuttle system. They even get creative with the names too. For instance, the University of Miami has the Hurry ‘Canes shuttles, and students at UCLA can take the BruinBus. These options can be particularly helpful in urban settings such as D.C., Baltimore, Philadelphia or New York City.
So you have to weigh your options to see if it would in fact be worth it to bring your car to college. If you need it to get you to-and-from a job or your parents house, then by all means take it. But we suggest that you enjoy your college days without one of the major responsibilities of adulthood: Car ownership.
Ford’s Free Ride Sales Event Kicks Off Early
Ford has surprised everyone, even its dealerships, by putting out their Labor Day message early! They are dubbing it the Free Ride Sales Event. Dave Wilson Jr. said, “This is going to be one of the biggest announcements from Ford that I have ever heard.” Turns out he was right! This sales event brings with it 0% financing for 72 months on ALL 2015 model year cars, SUVs and trucks! It even includes 2016 model year Fusions as well as 2014 model year F-150, Focus and Transit Connect. On top of that is the $1,000 Labor Day Bonus Cash! This extra incentive is available on any 2015 car or SUV, 2016 Fusion, and remaining 2014 F-150, Focus and Transit Connect.
Let’s start off with all the 2015’s that you can get for 0% for 72 months. The redesigned 2015 F-150s have not had much in terms of rebates and incentives since they came out earlier this year. So, for customers to be able to get a new, military-grade aluminum F-150 with no interest for six years — well you could say it’s a huge deal. This sale also includes 0% for 72 months on every 2015 model year vehicle like the popular Focus, fuel efficient Fiesta, adventurous Escape and more! The $1,000 Labor Day Bonus Cash is what sweetens the pot for the cars and SUVs (excluding 2015 model year trucks).
Ford Motor Company has also included leftover 2014 model year vehicles such as the F-150, Focus and Transit Connect in this Free Ride Sales Event. Those vehicles will get the 0% for 72 months as we’ve said, but they will also come with $1,000 Labor Day Bonus Cash. Even the couple-month-old 2016 Ford Fusion will have both of those incentives attached too.

Nissan Wins Big at Awards
July 2015-This week at the 19th Annual AutoPacific Vehicle Satisfaction Awards (VSA) two Nissan vehicle’s brought home some pretty outstanding and prestigious hardware. The 2015 Nissan Murano won Best in Class Premium Mid-Size Crossover SUV, and the 2015 Nissan Quest was voted Best in Class Minivan. 
The award that based solely on owner input which is a difference from many other industry benchmarks measuring how satisfied owners are with their new vehicles. Instead on sending journalist and employees to rate and award a vehicle, AutoPacific depends on the votes of vehicle owners. 50 different attributes determine the winner of its awards, ranging from interior comfort to performance and fuel economy.
“It is also great to see the Murano bring home the trophy in the first year of its total redesign for 2015,” said Fred Diaz, Senior VP of Sales & Marketing of Nissan North America. The 2015 Nissan Murano also saw a rise in sales of nearly 75% in June and an increase of 39% over the 2014 fiscal year. Inspired by the future of aerospace, the Murano’s striking aerodynamic body looks as though mother nature herself shaped it. The V-Motion front end gives way to the signature floating roofline that appears to hover above the cabin.

Hyundai USA Becomes Official NFL Sponsor
Hyundai loves sports. Think back recently to the FIFA Women’s World Cup. Their brand name was all over the place! From the running boards along the perimeter of the field, to the glass behind the interviewees, it was everywhere. And now Hyundai has made their move to the NFL where they are now the official automotive sponsor! With one of the largest fanbases, the NFL is every brand’s dream.
As part of the exclusive partnership, Hyundai will have use of the NFL trademarks across various marketing channels. Get used to seeing Hyundai commercials replace those from General Motors Co. Beyond commercials, Hyundai will have exclusive access to big events such as the Super Bowl, Playoffs and the Draft. Instead of the Super Bowl MVP getting a Chevy Truck he will now be getting a free Hyundai. Dave Zuchowski, President and CEO, even states that “the NFL and Hyundai also share a commitment to helping the communities where we do business, another important aspect of our sponsorship.”
Now this exclusivity hasn’t come without a hefty price tag. The cost has actually not been revealed, but it is likely they are paying around $25 Million per year, which is what GM was paying last year. Hyundai will take the reigns and launch it’s activation with a major presence during NFL Kickoff activities on September 10th.

With May in the books and all the numbers totaled up, we are happy to announce that Preston Ford finished tied for 76th in the Nation! It is their highest month of May finish ever and to put it into perspective, here are some facts: There are over 3,400 Ford Dealers in the US, and Preston Ford is located in a town of only 800 people. There are several contributing factors that enabled us to finish in the top 2% of US Ford Dealers: A combination of our valued customers, our iFrog Digital Marketing team, and our high quality sales and service people!
Preston Ford is no stranger to the Top 100, though. We have finished in the Top 100 four times since 2010! Before that, in 2009, we were close but finished at 109th. Then, we finished 2010 with a 93rd place ranking and bested that in 2011 with a 89th place ranking. We barely missed it in 2012, topping out at 102nd. But, in 2013 we got back in and finished 90th, then had our highest yearly finish ever at 72nd! Now, you have to understand that all those numbers are yearly totals. The 76th place finish for the month of May is a fantastic head-start towards another Top 100 finish for 2015!
We wouldn’t be this successful without our valued customers. So, first and foremost, we want to thank all those that bought a car in May!
