Preston Automotive Group sponsors March of Dimes event

March of Dimes New Flyer
For many years now Preston Automotive Group as well as Dave Wilson have been huge advocates for the March of Dimes. The March of Dimes was originally established by Franklin Roosevelt to fight polio, later the mission focus was shifted to premature birth and birth defects. Research breakthroughs have helped save thousands of babies. Since 2003 the March of Dimes fight has been to save babies strongly characterized by the Premature Campaign. The rising amount of babies born prematurely has demanded action and the March of Dimes has responded by initiating a multi-year campaign to raise awareness and find the causes of prematurity. The March of Dimes mission is to “help moms have full term pregnancies and research the problems that threaten the health of babies”. In local communities across the country the March of Dimes is helping moms take charge of their health and support families when something goes wrong. They also act globally by sharing the best practices in perinatal health and helping improve birth outcomes where the needs are most urgent. On May 4th, 2014 Preston Automotive Group will be hosting their own March of Dimes event. At the Autoplex there will be a 3 mile walk beginning at 12:00 p.m. The walk will go through the town of Preston and continue back to the Autoplex. Not only is there a walk for healthier babies but there will also be entertainment for the whole family. Mike Hines and the Look will be performing and Sherman the Shorebird will also be here to greet everyone! There will be plenty of food which is being donated by local sponsors. Activities for the children include a jumbo slide and spin art. There will also be fireworks at dusk on Saturday May 3rd to kick off the March of Dimes event. The fireworks are sponsored by Preston Automotive Group and will be put on by Zambelli Fireworks. Preston Automotive Group is sponsoring the 3rd Annual Dance & Silent Auction where all proceeds will benefit the March of Dimes. This is taking place on May 30th beginning at 8:00 p.m. and ending around midnight. The event will be held at The Milestone in Easton. Music will be provided by the award winning DJ, Steve Moody. There will also be over 50 silent auction items, cash bar, light refreshments, door prizes, a 50/50 raffle and a fun photo booth! This is a casual attire event. Tickets are $20 per person in advance and $25 per person at the door.

Talbot Goes Purple

Talbot Goes Purple

“We’re in the middle of the deadliest drug epidemic in our history - and much of it starts with improper use of prescription painkillers. I believe we need to start teaching our kids these pills are basically synthetic heroin and WILL lead to heroin addiction.” - Joe Gamble, Talbot County Sheriff Talbot Goes Purple is a program meant to engage the community and help youth stand up against substance abuse. Through the creation of purple clubs in our local high schools, students will learn that they don’t need drugs or alcohol. We encourage our community and youth to ‘Go Purple’ as a sign that they take a stand against substance abuse. Our community needs to start having a conversation about the abuse of prescription drugs. 91 Americans die every day from an opioid overdose, and it is our goal to rid Talbot County of this issue. Talbot Goes Purple is a campaign where the Talbot County Sheriff’s Office and Tidewater Rotary team up with Talbot County Schools and the Mid-Shore Community Foundation to spread awareness of how dangerous it is to abuse prescription drugs. On September 19th and September 20th, former NBA basketball player Chris Herren will be running two in-school assemblies in addition to a community event at 7:00 p.m. on September 19th. Chris Herren nearly ruined his life with prescription drug abuse that slowly turned into a heroin addiction. Herren can speak firsthand about how awful drug abuse is and how dangerous it could be to your life. Herren has now been clean and sober for almost a decade and spreads his story to communities in need. We are looking forward to hearing and learning from his story. This September, Talbot Goes Purple and we hope that you can join in celebrating sobriety and solidarity against heroin use.

United for a Cure

United for a Cure

The Preston Automotive Group is united for a cure the entire month of October, as our stores are banding together in a combined effort to support the fight against breast cancer. Our goal is to not only spread awareness of breast cancer and how to prevent it but also to raise funds for the research and development of a cure for this disease. We are partnering with the American Cancer Society to battle this illness that 1 in 8 women will face in their lifetime. We hope this cause will aid those who have fallen victim to breast cancer by funding research for a cure. During the month of October, your friends at the Preston Automotive Group will be giving away a free pink frog with every purchase of a new or used vehicle. These pink frogs are exclusive limited edition versions of everyone's favorite car dealing amphibian.  So hurry in and help spread awareness of breast cancer and the importance of regular check-ups. Early detection is critical when fighting breast cancer, and by spreading awareness, we hope that people do what they can to get checked out for this illness during the United for a Cure event. From October 19th to October 22nd, your friends at the Preston Autoplex will be donating $100 to the American Cancer Society with every single new vehicle purchased. This money is donated to fund research efforts to attempt to find a way we can rid the world of this terrible disease. These financial efforts are also to help spread awareness of breast cancer and how important it is to take preventative measures. Help us, and the millions of volunteers nationwide, in raising funds for breast cancer research, life-saving education, and essential patient services for those suffering from the illness. Your friends at the Preston Autoplex are United for a Cure!
