A New Beginning Already a Ford Motor Company Top Volume Dealer Hall of Fame inductee, Wilson has been named the next Chairman of the National Ford Dealer Council at the company’s annual meeting on November 6 in Dearborn, MI. Wilson, who is the Founder and Chairman of Preston Automotive Group (PAG), iFrog Marketing Solutions, and also holds vested interests in numerous other businesses across the Delmarva area, was previously Vice Chairman for the Dealer Council. "I am honored and humbled to serve Ford and the Ford Dealer Body,” said Wilson. “Together, we will continue to build on Ford’s truck leadership, Ford Blue, Ford Pro, and Model e. It’s an exciting time, and Ford's product lineup is second to none, in my opinion.” Wilson succeeds Tim Hovik, Owner/General Manager of Top 100 Ford dealer San Tan Ford in Gilbert, Ariz. Through the creation of purple clubs in our local high schools, students will learn that they don’t need drugs or alcohol. We encourage our community and youth to ‘Go Purple’ as a sign that they take a stand against substance abuse. Our community needs to start having a conversation about the abuse of prescription drugs. 91 Americans die every day from an opioid overdose, and it is our goal to rid Talbot County of this issue. Talbot Goes Purple is a campaign where the Talbot County Sheriff’s Office and Tidewater Rotary team up with Talbot County Schools and the Mid-Shore Community Foundation to spread awareness of how dangerous it is to abuse prescription drugs. On September 19th and September 20th, former NBA basketball player Chris Herren will be running two in-school assemblies in addition to a community event at 7:00 p.m. on September 19th. Chris Herren nearly ruined his life with prescription drug abuse that slowly turned into a heroin addiction. Herren can speak firsthand about how awful drug abuse is and how dangerous it could be to your life. Herren has now been clean and sober for almost a decade and spreads his story to communities in need. We are looking forward to hearing and learning from his story. The Preston Automotive Group is united for a cure the entire month of October, as our stores are banding together in a combined effort to support the fight against breast cancer. Our goal is to not only spread awareness of breast cancer and how to prevent it but also to raise funds for the research and development of a cure for this disease. We are partnering with the American Cancer Society to battle this illness that 1 in 8 women will face in their lifetime. Back in 2003, the March of Dimes started the Prematurity Campaign in order to fund research, spread awareness, and support legislation that improves the chances that moms will have healthy babies. The campaign was made global in 2008. We are so happy to be part of that cause. Across the world, 15 million premature babies are born every year, 380,000 of which are born in the United States. This figure has been decreasing over the last several years, and a lot of it has to do with the March of Dimes raising funds and spreading awareness. Franklin Roosevelt originally created the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis in an effort to establish a polio patient aid program and fund research. Once those goals were accomplished, the foundation was nicknamed the March of Dimes and began working on those aforementioned goals they still strive for to this very day. The March of Dimes is leading the way to discovering the genetic causes of birth defects. They promote newborn screening and educate medical professionals and the public about the best practices for having a healthy pregnancy. Throughout the years, March of Dimes has supported surfactant therapy research, in an effort to treat respiratory distress. We would like to thank every single person who was kind enough to participate in the Preston Automotive Go Red For Women event. For each car sold from February 5th, 2016 to February 15th, 2016, we donated $50 to AHA. We also gave out a red frog with every purchase in an effort to spread awareness for heart disease. February is celebrated as heart month and Preston Automotive Group is doing everything it can to spread awareness about this awful disease. We kicked off this fantastic event February 5th when our staff broke out our finest red outfits for National Wear Red Day to show the world that we stand with Go Red For Women. Between Preston Ford, Preston Nissan, Preston Mazda, and Preston Hyundai the Autoplex was filled to the brim with red. We were so excited to show the American Heart Association what everyone else already knows, that Preston cares! Preston Automotive Group is proud is announce that it will be honored as a community partner of the American Cancer Society at their Colors of Cancer banquet, which will be held April 2, 2016 at the Tred Avon Yacht Club in Oxford, Maryland. Come join us and do your part to inspire hope in the fight against cancer. A whole night of incredible activities is planned, and we’re hoping to see you there! Hors d'oeuvres and cocktails from a cash bar will be served first at this high-class affair, starting around 6:30 pm. Some of the activities for the guests will be a prize-filled balloon, a 50/50 raffle, a chance to win a 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLA SUV, and a silent auction. There will be a number of fabulous prizes at the silent auction, including a sterling silver “Dancing Clef” 6mm blue topaz pendant, donated by Steve Shearer of Shearer the Jeweler. It is absolutely beautiful and is just one of the many prizes you’ll find at the auction. The meal begins at 7:30, where guests will sit and enjoy the delicious cuisine. Once 8 o’clock rolls around, the honorees will be presented with their awards; including ourselves, Michele Williams, and Patricia Plaskon. Brent Spurry and “Big” Don O’Brien will be serving as honorary chairs for the event, as they were selected by the Colors of Cancer Hometown Heroes Gala Committee for 2016. After dinner, we will wind down the evening with coffee and some delectable desserts, such as the now famous Colors of Cancer cupcake bar.
