Lincoln has officially announced it will be unveiling the 2020 Lincoln Corsair this spring, and this revamped compact crossover SUV model will be available to buy later this year. An article from Car and Driver states that this remarkable crossover SUV will be revealed at the 2019 New York Auto Show, taking the place of the Lincoln MKC. Though it shares a similar design as the Lincoln MKC, the 2020 Lincoln Corsair definitely stands out among the other compact crossover SUV models in its class. Teaser images suggest that the 2020 Lincoln Corsair will be a little bit longer than the Lincoln MKC. If that is the case, then this stunning compact crossover SUV model will be more spacious than its predecessor, and everyone riding with you will be able to stretch out in total comfort. Full-width taillights lend a bit of intrigue to the 2020 Lincoln Corsair. Not much is known about the power the 2020 Lincoln Corsair, but it is rumored to have a twin-turbocharged 3.0L V6 engine with Stop-Start technology and other great features. This Friday April 29th and Saturday April 30th, Preston Automotive Group is donating $50 to March of Dimes for every vehicle purchased on our lot. Back in 2003, the March of Dimes started the Prematurity Campaign in order to fund research, spread awareness, and support legislation that improves the chances that moms will have healthy babies. The campaign was made global in 2008. We are so happy to be part of that cause. Across the world, 15 million premature babies are born every year, 380,000 of which are born in the United States. This figure has been decreasing over the last several years, and a lot of it has to do with the March of Dimes raising funds and spreading awareness. Franklin Roosevelt originally created the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis in an effort to establish a polio patient aid program and fund research. Once those goals were accomplished, the foundation was nicknamed the March of Dimes and began working on those aforementioned goals they still strive for to this very day. The March of Dimes is leading the way to discovering the genetic causes of birth defects. They promote newborn screening and educate medical professionals and the public about the best practices for having a healthy pregnancy. Throughout the years, March of Dimes has supported surfactant therapy research, in an effort to treat respiratory distress. We would like to thank every single person who was kind enough to participate in the Preston Automotive Go Red For Women event. For each car sold from February 5th, 2016 to February 15th, 2016, we donated $50 to AHA. We also gave out a red frog with every purchase in an effort to spread awareness for heart disease. February is celebrated as heart month and Preston Automotive Group is doing everything it can to spread awareness about this awful disease. We kicked off this fantastic event February 5th when our staff broke out our finest red outfits for National Wear Red Day to show the world that we stand with Go Red For Women. Between Preston Ford, Preston Nissan, Preston Mazda, and Preston Hyundai the Autoplex was filled to the brim with red. We were so excited to show the American Heart Association what everyone else already knows, that Preston cares! Preston Automotive Group is proud is announce that it will be honored as a community partner of the American Cancer Society at their Colors of Cancer banquet, which will be held April 2, 2016 at the Tred Avon Yacht Club in Oxford, Maryland. Come join us and do your part to inspire hope in the fight against cancer. A whole night of incredible activities is planned, and we’re hoping to see you there! Hors d'oeuvres and cocktails from a cash bar will be served first at this high-class affair, starting around 6:30 pm. Some of the activities for the guests will be a prize-filled balloon, a 50/50 raffle, a chance to win a 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLA SUV, and a silent auction. There will be a number of fabulous prizes at the silent auction, including a sterling silver “Dancing Clef” 6mm blue topaz pendant, donated by Steve Shearer of Shearer the Jeweler. It is absolutely beautiful and is just one of the many prizes you’ll find at the auction. The meal begins at 7:30, where guests will sit and enjoy the delicious cuisine. Once 8 o’clock rolls around, the honorees will be presented with their awards; including ourselves, Michele Williams, and Patricia Plaskon. Brent Spurry and “Big” Don O’Brien will be serving as honorary chairs for the event, as they were selected by the Colors of Cancer Hometown Heroes Gala Committee for 2016. After dinner, we will wind down the evening with coffee and some delectable desserts, such as the now famous Colors of Cancer cupcake bar. We would like to thank not only the American Cancer Society for this honor, but also all the sponsors that made it happen. Governor Hogan Declares the State of Emergengy in Anticipation of Winter Storm Jonas With the impending arrival of significant snowfall, Maryland Governor, Larry Hogan, has officially declared a state of emergency effective January 22 through Saturday, January 23. The state of emergency came in advance of this major snowstorm (Winter Storm Jonas) that has been forecasted to hit the Mid-Atlantic region this weekend. Heavy snowfall is predicted to arrive over the weekend to Philadelphia and maybe further north. Governors in North Carolina and Virginia and they mayor of the District of Columbia have also declared emergencies. The National Weather Service said Wednesday that 12 to 16 inches of snow could come down between Friday night and Sunday morning. More than 50 million people could be affected by the “potentially paralyzing storm”, National Weather Service Director Louis Uccellini said on a call with reporters on Thursday evening. Know the Difference: Winter Storm Outlook - Winter storm conditions are possible in the next 2 to 5 days. Winter Weather Advisory - Winter weather conditions are expected to cause significant inconveniences and may be hazardous. When caution is used, these situations should not be life threatening. Winter Storm Watch - Winter storm conditions are possible within the next 36 to 48 hours. People in a watch area should review their winter storm plans and stay informed about weather conditions. Winter Storm Warning - Life-threatening, severe winter conditions have begun or will begin within 24 hours. People in a warning area should take precautions immediately. What does a “State of Emergency” mean? States of emergencies have been declared to allow officials to coordinate and request emergency resources and support. A state of emergency also allows the Governor to access certain resources, like the National Guard, to increase the State’s response. Paint the Plex Pink will be held on October 17 th and it is all about raising Awareness for Breast Cancer. As you know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so Preston Automotive is gearing up for a fun month and exciting day. Our sales consultants are wearing pink all month, so we encourage those of you coming to the event to do the same! The Paint the Plex Pink event will feature good food, kid’s activities, games, music, a special appearance by the Preston Frog, and of course the Preston “Drive to Inspire” Pink F-250 Truck. You will be able sign the truck to show your support for Breast Cancer Research. This event will only be going on between 1 and 4pm on Saturday the 17th, so if you’re going to be home with the kids, make sure you come out for this FREE event! Two years ago we had a fantastic turn out and we hope to replicate that this year. Some of the guys shaved their heads to show they were United for a Cure with those who had lost their hair due to the chemotherapy treatments associated with breast cancer. You certainly don’t have to do something that extreme, but just coming out for an hour or two will show just how much you care about this horrible disease - breast cancer.
