In a bold move, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV has announced that it will invest a staggering $4.5 billion in five plants in Michigan for one purpose: to engineer all-new Jeep SUV models. An article from Reuters states that FCA wants to compete in the extremely lucrative market of full-size three-row SUV models that has long been “dominated by rivals General Motors Co. and Ford Motor Co.” The article also states that these five plants are projected to create an amazing 6,500 jobs in the state of Michigan. Three of the new plants are expected to produce both hybrid and fully-electric Jeep models, something that could change the entire game for the SUV market.
