Super Bowl Commercial Recap

The day after the Super Bowl is for talking about the big game at work, recanting the crucial plays, and maybe best of all discussing everyone’s favorite Super Bowl Commercials.  This year there were some pretty powerful spots; including two from Nissan, one controversial ad from Nationwide Insurance, a PSA by coalition No More, and several others.  Serious was the name of the game, and we were right in line with our three spots on NBC – WRDE. Our spots were based around thanking our valued customers of the Delmarva area and beyond.  Our message even got picked up by those at Edmunds.com, who wrote an article about us and what we were trying to accomplish.  Our commercials spots also got great reception with people liking, sharing, and commenting on them via Facebook during and after the game.  Some of the top comments included things like, “THAT is a GREAT commercial – thank you!” and “What an awesome local commercial from Preston Frogz!”  We were even able to use pictures and video of local people in the ads.  Whether it was military or EMS personnel or members of the community at our various events, we got to connect our message back to them.  You can view all three of our spots below or on our Preston Frogz YouTube page. Thanks for supporting us Delmarva!

2015 Preston Automotive Group Super Bowl Commercials

It’s that time of year again for the big game – Super Bowl XLIX.  As you know this game will be played between the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks on Sunday February 1, 2015.  We know there will certainly be a ton of viewers glued to their televisions on Sunday night.  Last year 167 Million people watched the big game, making it the most watched television broadcast in U.S. history, overtaking the Super Bowl from two years prior by approximately 200,000 viewers.  Bottom line, this year’s game is projected to set a new record and advertisers have certainly taken notice. Historically, people watch the broadcast for the Super Bowl Commercials as much as the actual game sometimes.  The commercials have been getting funnier and more creative each and every year.  This year Preston Automotive Group will have three Super Bowl Commercials featured on NBC – WRDE.  We were inspired this year by the service men and women in our communities.  From Firefighters to Police Officers, EMS to Military Personnel, we wanted to form our message around you; thanking you for everything you do for us.  We created Preston Cares in order to convey this message to you. Preston Cares is our way of saying thank you to our local community.  It is because of you that we are still in business.  “Our customers give so much to us that we are happy to give back to the community,” says Dave Wilson, Preston Automotive Group President, “We were excited to produce these special Super Bowl Commercials to thank all of you on Delmarva and beyond.”  Not only do we love our customers, we love our local communities and try to be involved as much as possible.  Preston Cares supports the local communities that each of our dealerships live in.  From Little League Baseball teams to Supporting the Fight Against Breast Cancer, we truly believe that together we can do more. So, when you see our Super Bowl Commercials this year be sure to remember that you, our valued customers, are of key importance to Preston Automotive Group’s success.  Thank you again!

Preston Nissan is Official Drop Site for Toys for Tots!

The Holiday Season is upon us and Christmas is fast approaching!  It is truly a wonderful time of year for most people; however, those families that may be slightly less fortunate may not have enough money to buy gifts for their children on Christmas.  That is where Toys for Tots comes in. The Marine Toys for Tots Foundation provides the funding and support needed for a successful annual toy collection and distribution campaigns.  They were founded by Major Bill Hendricks of the USMCR back in 1947.  That makes this Christmas giving-tradition nearly 70 years old!  At this point they have given out nearly a half a billion toys to less fortunate children all over the United States. Coming directly from the official Toys for Tots website, they say, “Local campaigns are conducted annually in over 700 communities covering all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.  Ahead of the campaign, part of their job is to find businesses and companies that are willing to become drop sites for toys each year.  This year, Preston Nissan is one of the few drop sites on the Eastern Shore.  Preston Nissan is accepting unwrapped and unopened toys through December 22 nd.  That deadline will be here before you know it so come out to the Preston Autoplex – specifically the Nissan building – with your toy in order to donate.  If you are not in position to donate, but would instead like to request a toy for your little boy or girl you can do that on the Toys for Tots website.  But you need to hurry because there are different deadlines to request a toy based on which county you live in. We hope that those who are fortunate enough will donate a toy because we are trying very hard to fill up one of our new 2015 Nissan NV200’s with donated toys.  The employees of the Preston Autoplex have been supporting the toy drive, but we need your help!  If you can afford an extra toy, we ask that you please donate it to our Toys for Tots drive before December 22, 2014.  If we can manage to fill the truck we will certainly be posting a picture on Preston Nissan’s Facebook page to show how selfless the people in our area are, so make sure to bring in your donation then keep an eye on our page!  Merry Christmas!

Nissan Sentra at Preston Nissan

Nissan Sentra at Preston Nissan

The Nissan Sentra is consistently a top choice in the compact sedan category.  That should continue into 2015 with the next model coming out sometime in December!  The Nissan Sentra competes on the highest level of fuel economy for a compact sedan.  With capabilities of reaching 40 mpg on the highway, the Sentra is an economy car with perks! Here at Preston Nissan, we have over 50 Sentra’s in stock right now with our excitement rising about the release of the 2015s!  The current Sentra’s are offered in four trim levels: S, SV, SR and SL.  The base model comes with a remote keyless entry system, full power accessories and 16” steel wheels among other things.  The next step up is the SV, which adds control buttons on the steering wheel and upgraded upholstery.  The SR is the sport version and it comes with bolder styling elements including a lower body skirting and a rear spoiler.  The SL is the top trim level that has wood-tone accents and dual-zone automatic climate control. The interior is fairly surprising for what is considered a “small, compact” car.  The fact is, many compact sedans now have the interior space and upscale, high-tech features once more commonly associated with larger or more expensive cars.  The 2014 Nissan Sentra is a perfect example of this trend.  It has large amounts of leg and headroom for four adults to fit comfortably. Also, part of the interior that people may not always think about is the trunk space, and the Sentra at Preston Nissan has 15.1 cubic feet of space, which is a lot for a compact car. The biggest draw to the Sentra is its fuel-efficient 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine.  It’s one of the smallest engines made for a motor vehicle, but it gets the job done while saving you tons of money at the pump in the process.  With gas being cheaper than it has been in years, the Sentra will seemingly cost nothing to fill up the tank.  A six-speed manual transmission is standard on the base model S; all other Sentra’s have the continuously variable transmission (CVT) as standard. Preston Nissan in Hurlock, Maryland, has an abundance of 2014 Sentra’s with the 2015’s on the way in December!  So, we would like to invite you to come see our impressive inventory with your own eyes.  We are located at the intersection of Maryland Routes 318 and 331.  We look forward to meeting you!

Preston Automotive Group American Cancer Society

Preston Automotive Group's Large Donation to Breast Cancer Awareness

I want to take you back to last month, which was Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and a crazy time for Preston Automotive Group.  We decided to partner up with the American Cancer Society (ACS) and committed to donating $50 for every vehicle sold at any one of our nine locations all month long.  We also got our three body shops involved and committed 2% of their sales during the month of October to our overall ACS donation.  Preston Automotive Group has been a huge supporter of Breast Cancer Awareness as it has affected many of our own employees and families, and this donation campaign was our way of showing that they were not fighting alone – we were United For A Cure.  (Check out all the facts about the ACS in the infographic below.) In addition to our donation to the American Cancer society, Preston Automotive Group employees wore “Pink” all month long to show support and for the first time ever, Preston created a pink frog.  Customers traditionally receive a green Preston frog with every vehicle purchase.  So during October 2014, pink frogs were given to help show support in the fight against Breast Cancer. Preston Automotive Group also created its first ever “Pink” fleet that consisted of a 2015 Ford Transit, two 2014 Ford Transit Connects, and a 2013 Ford Transit Connect.  These vehicles were wrapped in pink to also aide in Breast Cancer Awareness.  A 2014 Ford F-150 was also wrapped as this year’s Drive to Inspire vehicle.  The Drive to Inspire campaign was started with Comcast Spotlight and Saving Second Base. As a whole, Preston Automotive Group had a goal of raising a whopping $40,000 for the ACS.  To do that we knew we would have to sell a combined 800 cars throughout our nine dealerships.  It was a lofty goal, but we knew it could be achieved with hard work.  So, with Breast Cancer Awareness Month all wrapped up, we are ready to announce our donation total.  We donated a grand total of $38,500 to the American Cancer Society – only falling $1,500 short of our goal.  We were still extremely happy with the efforts of our team and customers who helped us get to that amount. We look forward to doing this again next year and raising even more money and awareness about breast cancer.  Until then be on the look out for any one of our “Pink Fleet” Trucks around the Delmarva area and give us a “Honk” to show your support for the fight against breast cancer!

veterans day preston automotive

Happy Veterans Day!

Veterans served our country with selfless fortitude.  Whether it was in the First World War, Second World War, Korean War, Vietnam War, or any other war in our history, the Veterans of our Armed Services have been the ones keeping us safe; so today we salute them. Did you know that Veterans Day was first called Armistice Day back in 1919?  Armistice of course means an agreement made by opposing sides in a war to stop fighting; in other words, a truce.  The first celebration of Armistice Day, November 11, 1919, marked the one year anniversary of the end of WWI, and was put in place to applaud those who risked their lives in that war.  However, it wasn’t made a federal holiday until 1938.  And in 1954, President Dwight D. Eisenhower amended the holiday to include all veterans. Did you know that Veterans Day wasn’t always on the 11 th of November?  It started out as the 11 th, as previously stated, and is currently the 11 th but wasn’t always like that.  For a period of ten years, from 1968-78, Veterans Day was changed to the 4 th Monday in October.  The petty reason for that was to give Federal Officers a three day weekend.  Today, all Federal Offices and most schools are off in observance of Veterans Day. Did you know that Veterans Day in the US is shared with many other country’s celebrations.  There were 19 countries that fought with the Allies in WWI and most – if not all – have celebrations on November 11 th to honor their Veterans.  For instance, this year, the UK is celebrating 100 years since the start of WWI with a big ceremony and moment of silence in London. Finally, did you know that many places give out Military Discounts to Active Duty Members and Veterans on Veterans Day?  This year restaurants such as Denny’s, Olive Garden, and others are giving out free or discounted meals to Veterans with Military ID’s.  Specifically here at the Preston Autoplex we have a $500 Military Discount that we run every day on every car on the lot.  It is just our small way of saying thank you to the men and women that serve, and have served, our great country.  Happy Veterans Day!

Oil Change at Preston Automotive

The Importance of Regular Oil Changes for Your Vehicle

They say change is good right?  Well the same goes for the oil in your vehicle.  The fact is, motor oil is the lifeblood of your engine.  So, the best way to extend the life and fuel economy of your car, truck, or SUV is to have the oil changed regularly. The purpose of motor oil is to lube up the moving parts of the engine while keeping all the seals tight.  However, with the high temperature of the engine, the oil is put under great stress.  The thermal breakdown wears on the oil’s additives and lubrication.  When the lubrication wears down, parts of the engine may start to rub together.  The thermal breakdowns will also cause gaps to form in the various seals; this is where dirt and debris can sneak into the engine.  When you have your oil changed here at any Preston location, you will also get a new oil filter.  The filter works to keep the sludge from getting to your engine.  If it becomes clogged with too much gunk, it will decrease the amount of good oil that reaches your engine. These are all ways that unchanged oil could negatively affect the life of your vehicle.  So basically, the way to prevent all of this is to check your oil often and get it changed regularly.  We make that easy for you here at Preston Nissan and Mazda.  We have a deal so amazing it seems too good to be true – but it’s not!  Our Triple Play Oil Change gets you your first oil change for $19.95, your second for $12.95, and your third one is absolutely free!  The only stipulation is that they all have to be done within a year from your first one.  Which, if you are following the expert recommendations, you should be getting three or four oil changes per year anyway.  So, this deal is saving you money that you would otherwise have to spend no matter what.  Drop your car off today to start taking advantage of this great deal!

Vehicle Safety and Recall Awareness

Vehicle recalls are something that happen more often than you might think, but owners may not always know their recalled vehicle needs to be repaired.  Just to be clear, I’m not referring to any major recalls like the Toyota sticking gas pedal incident or the Firestone tires on Ford SUV’s because of course those are recalls that everyone hears about on national news.  I’m talking about those smaller recalls that just about every car brand has at one time or another for things such as faulty airbags or switches for example.  So, it is just as important to know about the little recalls as it is to know about the larger ones because they are both threats to your safety.  And now there is any easy way to keep up on those threats with safercar.gov. Safercar.gov is a government website run by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration ( NHTSA).  This site exists solely to inform consumers on everything to do with vehicle safety.  From recalls, to investigations, even to common complaints – safercar.gov is the catch-all site to ensure you and your family are safe in your vehicle. There are a couple ways to see if your car is on a recall list.  You could search as specifically as the VIN number or as general as the vehicle year, make, and model.  Regardless of how dependable your make of car usually is, everyone should take a look at this site anyway.  It’s fast, simple and you have nothing to lose except about thirty seconds of your time.  However, if you do end up finding something about your car involving a recalled item, then I’ll bet you’ll be glad you checked.  And even more than that, taking a couple seconds to check for your car could save your life or many others. If you got your car, truck, or SUV from Preston Automotive Group and it turns out to have a recall, no matter how small or large, you can be sure that one of our three auto body shops – in Preston, Snow Hill, or Cambridge – will be able to help get you in-and-out and safely back on the road.

Preston Hyundai Maryland Dealer

Preston Hyundai Maryland Dealership Supports Hope on Wheels

In 1998, Hyundai Motor America started Hope on Wheels - a non-profit organization committed to finding a cure for childhood cancer.  Since the conception of this idea 16 years ago, Hyundai has raised nearly 90 million dollars.  This year, Preston is one of 820 Hyundai Dealers in the U.S. to be participating in the annual event. September is National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, so Preston Automotive Group Owner/President Dave Wilson Sr. has prepared to open up his wallet. Wilson Sr. along with Preston Hyundai will make a donation to the Hope on Wheels program for every Hyundai that is purchased from the Preston lot during the month of September. Not only that, but each of his donations will be matched by Hyundai Motor America! As a result, this is something that Preston Hyundai has been proud to participate in for many years. One of the more ceremonial parts of the Hope on Wheels program are the symbolic handprints. On their website Hope on Wheels states that there is nothing more personal than a handprint.  So, part of this program gives children who are currently battling cancer a chance to have fun and paint their handprint on a White Hyundai Santa Fe. There are several ways that money is being collected.  First and foremost are the donations from dealers matched by Hyundai Motor America. Secondly, there are 5K races setup in select locations around the country where all proceeds will go toward the Hope on Wheels foundation.  There is also branded merchandise with the Hope on Wheels logo for sale on their website.  And of course you could make a donation of any amount by visiting their website as well.  However, if you have been thinking about a new Hyundai then now is the time to buy because Preston Hyundai will only be participating in this program until the end of the month! We encourage you to check out their website and/or video above to find out more about this great foundation.  Also, be sure to use the hashtag #endchildhoodcancer to spread further awareness about this program.  It truly is a wonderful foundation that can have an impact on the lives of thousands of children.  So, make sure to come out to Preston Hyundai to see what we are doing to help this worthy cause with your own eyes.
