Chesapeake College is celebrating 50 years of serving the community by providing a local education to the people of Delmarva. Preston Automotive and Preston Nissan are #PeakeProud, granting Chesapeake College a Nissan Rogue that was decorated via Mid-Shore Graphics, adorned with logos of Preston Automotive and Chesapeake College. This Nissan Rogue will be traveling around for five weeks, visiting the five counties that serve Chesapeake College; Caroline County, Dorchester County, Talbot County, Queen Anne’s County, and Kent County.
The Nissan Rogue will be making its way to your local business, reaching out to any and all Chesapeake College alumni. Whether you were a dual enrollment student in high school, took non-credit continuing education, participated in the Institute for Adult Learning, took a few credit classes, graduated with a degree or certificate, or were part of the adult basic education program, you are a Chesapeake College alum and the College is looking forward to catching up with you.
Preston Automotive is proud to provide the #PeakeProud mobile, the Nissan Rogue, out there riding around, reconnecting to the thousands of Chesapeake alumni, and building alumni pride over five weeks. Preston Automotive Group is ecstatic to announce our partnership with March of Dimes to hold the 2016 Caroline County March for Babies at our Preston Auto Complex. Back in 2003, the March of Dimes started the Prematurity Campaign in order to fund research, spread awareness, and support legislation that improves the chances that moms will have healthy babies. The campaign was made global in 2008. We are so happy to be part of that cause.
Across the world, 15 million premature babies are born every year, 380,000 of which are born in the United States. This figure has been decreasing over the last several years, and a lot of it has to do with the March of Dimes raising funds and spreading awareness.
Franklin Roosevelt originally created the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis in an effort to establish a polio patient aid program and fund research. Once those goals were accomplished, the foundation was nicknamed the March of Dimes and began working on those aforementioned goals they still strive for to this very day.
The March of Dimes is leading the way to discovering the genetic causes of birth defects. They promote newborn screening and educate medical professionals and the public about the best practices for having a healthy pregnancy.
Throughout the years, March of Dimes has supported surfactant therapy research, in an effort to treat respiratory distress. They also kicked off the system of regional neonatal intensive care for sick and premature babies, plus their Folic Acid Campaign led to a dramatic reduction in brain and spine birth defects.

Preston Automotive Go Red For Women
Preston Automotive Group is proud to announce the fact that we raised nearly $16,000 for the American Heart Association. We would like to thank every single person who was kind enough to participate in the Preston Automotive Go Red For Women event. For each car sold from February 5th, 2016 to February 15th, 2016, we donated $50 to AHA. We also gave out a red frog with every purchase in an effort to spread awareness for heart disease.
February is celebrated as heart month and Preston Automotive Group is doing everything it can to spread awareness about this awful disease. We kicked off this fantastic event February 5th when our staff broke out our finest red outfits for National Wear Red Day to show the world that we stand with Go Red For Women. Between Preston Ford, Preston Nissan, Preston Mazda, and Preston Hyundai the Autoplex was filled to the brim with red. We were so excited to show the American Heart Association what everyone else already knows, that Preston cares!

If you smoke, for instance, you should probably stop because non-smokers are a lot less likely to get heart disease. Consistent physical exercise could help prevent heart disease by aiding in quitting smoking, losing weight, reducing stress, increasing your HDL cholesterol, and lowering your blood pressure. Eating properly can also help you stay healthy and keep that heart ticking for a long time.
We are so happy to pair with the American Heart Association for the Preston Automotive Go Red For Women event. 2016 marks the 13th anniversary of the Go Red For Women event, and we are working harder than ever to spread awareness about this horrific illness. If you chose to apply for the receptionist opening, you will be the initial point of contact for all dealerships by receiving any and all inbound calls. You will serve them by greeting, welcoming, and directing them appropriately, depending on their request. This position may be part-time but it will not only look great on a resume, it will also be a great building block for your career.

Colors of Cancer Event
Preston Automotive Group is proud is announce that it will be honored as a community partner of the American Cancer Society at their Colors of Cancer banquet, which will be held April 2, 2016 at the Tred Avon Yacht Club in Oxford, Maryland. Come join us and do your part to inspire hope in the fight against cancer. A whole night of incredible activities is planned, and we’re hoping to see you there!
Hors d’oeuvres and cocktails from a cash bar will be served first at this high-class affair, starting around 6:30 pm. Some of the activities for the guests will be a prize-filled balloon, a 50/50 raffle, a chance to win a 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLA SUV, and a silent auction. There will be a number of fabulous prizes at the silent auction, including a sterling silver “Dancing Clef” 6mm blue topaz pendant, donated by Steve Shearer of Shearer the Jeweler. It is absolutely beautiful and is just one of the many prizes you’ll find at the auction.
The meal begins at 7:30, where guests will sit and enjoy the delicious cuisine. Once 8 o’clock rolls around, the honorees will be presented with their awards; including ourselves, Michele Williams, and Patricia Plaskon. Brent Spurry and “Big” Don O’Brien will be serving as honorary chairs for the event, as they were selected by the Colors of Cancer Hometown Heroes Gala Committee for 2016. After dinner, we will wind down the evening with coffee and some delectable desserts, such as the now famous Colors of Cancer cupcake bar.
We would like to thank not only the American Cancer Society for this honor, but also all the sponsors that made it happen. If you would like to attend this event, individual tickets are available for $75 per person and it costs $1,000 for a table of ten. It will be open seating and the price of the ticket includes hors d’oeuvres, seated meal, desserts and non-alcoholic beverages. This event usually sells out, so act fast if you hope to attend! PAG: 2016 Driven to Inspire Event

2016 Hyundai Genesis

2016 Mazda CX-9

Mazda i-ACTIV All-Wheel-Drive
The weather has been unpredictable lately. Rain turns to sleet, then snow, then it freezes; even a blizzard made its way through town. There really is no guessing what situations we might get caught in. Mazda thought of a solution. Their scenario, “It’s not an everyday occurrence, but there comes a time for every driver when they’re stopped at an intersection on a slippery incline and can’t seem to get enough sure traction to safely pull away.”
With this, they introduced the i-ACTIV all-wheel-drive system. Mazda is calling it “predictive” meaning it can determine exactly when and how to engage the AWD system before the driver even touches the accelerator and instantly when the wheels start to slip.
Sensors on the vehicles scan for data, such as temperature, vehicle angle, yaw, steering direction, antilock brake activation and wind-shield wiper use. The AWD controller then uses this information to determine road and weather conditions. Just 1% wheel slippage will fully engage the AWD.
The Mazda CX-5 with i-ACTIV AWD was tested on a frozen test track. Results showed that the AWD system on the Mazda proved near-equal to that of the time-tested AWD system in a Subaru Forester. If fact, the Mazda beat the competition during one test. The i-ACTIV system allows rear-wheel engagement even when the front wheels are turned. This allows for extra traction when on an incline and needing to turn.
This system is offered on the Mazda CX-3 and CX-5, as well as the 2016 CX-9 coming this spring. Mazda says i-ACTIV causes no fuel-economy penalty and is no more expensive or complex than any other AWD system on the market.
