Tips for Improving Gas Mileage
With gas prices staying high you might want to think of ways you can save money on gas and improve your gas mileage! Here are some tips from your Maryland and Virginia Car Dealer!
Drive Responsibly: You can save anywhere from 7 to 49 cents per gallon if you drive responsibly. This means that things such as speeding, rabid acceleration, and constant breaking are all part of driving aggressively which in return waste gas. Pay attention to the traffic flow so that you can maintain a more constant speed.
Replace Dirty Air Filter: This is estimated to save you 15 to 32 cents per gallon. Replacing a clogged air filter can improve your vehicle’s gas mileage by as much as 10%. The air filter prevents dirty particles from damaging the inside of your engine. The filter has dual purposes; it saves gas and protects your engine!
Bypass High Octane Gas: This will save you around 15 to 35 cents per gallon! Regular octane fuel is recommended for most cars. Buying high octane gas won’t necessarily improve your cars performance and will definitely add to your gas bill!
Maintain the Speed Limit: Maintaining the speed limit is important if you want to improve your gas mileage and save money! This will save around 10 cents per gallon. Gas mileage rapidly decreases at speeds above 60 mph. Cruise control will come in handy!

The all-new 2014 Mazda3 with Skyactiv Technology was listed as the “best compact car” by Yahoo Autos. Yahoo also said that the Mazda3 has plenty peppiness and handles brilliantly for a front wheel drive hatchback and sports an engaging, well executed manual transmission. In Yahoo Auto’s “Car of the Year” competition the Mazda 3 even ranked higher than the Porsche, Jag and the BMW! Yahoo Auto’s also said “had it not been for the Corvette’s rebirth the Mazda’s elegant Mazda3 would have taken the top spot, impressing our team with its Miata-inspired ‘zoom zoom’ zest”.

The Mazda3 offers two different engine and drivetrain choices. The first is a 155 horsepower Skyactiv 2.0L 4 cylinder engine with a choice of Skyactiv-MT 6 speed manual or Skyactiv Drive 6 speed automatic transmission. The second engine available is a 184 horsepower Skyactiv 2.5L 4 cylinder engine with Skyactiv drive 6 speed automatic transmission with sport model! Hyundai Introduces Concept Pickup Truck!
Pickup sales have risen to a whole new level and are on the track to being the biggest sellers of 2013. There shouldn’t be any surprise that Hyundai is considering designing a pickup truck. A few years ago Hyundai considered designing a front wheel pickup for the U.S however these ideas came about in early 2008 just as the Great Recession was hitting the world economy. Therefore nothing became of these ideas, as the economy has taken a turn for the better Hyundai is beginning to think again about designing a pickup truck. Hyundai has propelled itself into the #4 slot on the list of the world’s automakers. This means that is makes more cars than Ford, Nissan, Honda and just about everyone in the automotive industry. Hyundai didn’t make it to the top by sticking to budget friendly hatchbacks, Hyundai makes everything from sedans and wagons to crossovers and minivans, and most recently even sport coupes. Now the Korean Automaker is possibly considering entering the pickup truck market! Could Hyundai maybe be giving the Ford F-150 a run for its money?
Hyundai’s rendering artist Theophilus Chin has dreamt up what the Hyundai pickup could look like. The concept appears to be closely based on the latest 2013 Santa Fe however, the concept pickup has a short pickup bed out back instead of a wagon bodystyle. The concept looks a little closer to a Volkswgen Amarok than is does a full size truck like the Ford F-150 and would most likely see more overseas sales in this form than sales in the US. Before Hyundai would ever launch a pickup truck in the U.S. the truck would need to undergo years of testing! Hyundai might need to create something bigger and bolder to go up against trucks like the Ford F-150 and the Nissan Titan!

Movember- No Shave November
The tradition continues as November first passed us by. November marks a time when men unite and don’t shave for the whole month of November. This month long event is a fun way to raise awareness for prostate cancer and other cancers associated with men. Men who participate are referred to as “Mo-Bros”. Movember encourages men to go get checked out in order to achieve early detection that may possibly save many lives. The “Movember” Foundation has been spreading the trend since 2004, since then the trend has gone viral! You rarely see a man in November with a clean shaven face! In 2013 the Global Journal listed “Movember” as one of the top 100 non-government organizations in the world.
In honor of this month there are some guidelines you should follow if you are participating!
Rule #1: Get rid of everything, this includes razors! Dispose of these for the entire month of November, hide them so you can’t even find them or see them!
Rule #2: You have to power through the uncomfortable feeling. In the first week of November you will probably have the feeling of your face being on fire, you must power through!
Rule #3: Get used to looking cool. At the end of the first week you may have way more than a 5 o’clock shadow, remember grown men with full beards will not look ridiculous!
Rule #4: Don’t take criticism, when the holidays hit your beard will be in full swing and your family might criticize you. Sometimes family members just don’t get it!
Rule #5: Take lots and lots of pictures, document your progress of “Movember”! Compare how quickly you could grow a beard to your friends! See who wins, this would be a fun competition!
Rule #6: Always make sure you are having a lot of fun! Take a few days and have fun with your beard! Make it look extra cool by maybe giving yourself a goatee.
Rule #7: The most important rule! Shave! On December 1st not a second earlier you finally get to shave!!

Also featured on the C-Max is SmartGauge with EcoGuide, this is an innovative cluster that provides real time information to help you get the most efficiency from your Energi vehicle. The SmartGauge features a “MyView” screen so drivers can customize screens to their liking. A screen such as Brake Coach helps you maximize your vehicle’s efficiency. The screens include Enlighten, Empower, and Engage and explains your options within each. You can also access your MyFord Touch screens using the next-generation SmartGauge.
The Ford Fusion Energi like the C-Max Energi also has a 2.0L Atkinson Cycle I-4 Engine and Electric Motor and next-generation SmartGauge with EcoGuide. Another feature you can get on the Fusion Energi is SYNC with MyFord Touch as well as a 10-way power driver seat with 3 memory settings. It also can get an estimated 108 mpg city and 92 mpg highway! The Fusion Energi has a mode called EV mode. When operating in EV Mode the Fusion Energi is down 70 horsepower compared with hybrid mode, the decrease is masked by the electric motor’s immediately available torque and good accelerator-pedal response, which makes launches from rest feel very quick. The Fusion Energi plug in can do a full tilt acceleration run without deciding on its own switch on the internal combustion engine. When you have selected EV mode with a button on the center console the car will heed your command unless you hold the pedal to the floor and keep it there. A great feature standard on the Fusion Energi is the MyFord Mobile. This app lets you monitor and schedule the charging of your Fusion Energi from anywhere in order to help you maximize your range. It can give you remote charging status updates and can check charge levels and available range. It can also provide you with the location of your vehicle if you are not in it, where you can find the nearest charging stations, and the most efficient route to get there. The standard 120V convenience charge cord allows you to fully charge your Fusion Energi in about 7 hours! Plug your vehicle in when you get home from work and let it charge overnight, by the time you get up in the morning your vehicle will be charged and ready to go!
Available for both the C-Max Energi and Fusion Energi is the 240-Volt charging station. Along with this charging station comes installation services from AeroVironment. If you decide to have a unit installed an AeroVironment affiliated electrician will perform an electrical audit and then install the 240-volt charging station. The electrician that comes to install the system will handle everything including securing the required permits. The unit can also be plugged into a 240-volt outlet for nonpermanent installation, easy removal or replacement.
