Preston Ford has not been able to keep the Ford Energi vehicles on the lot!  Even our sales consultants are loving these awesome vehicles!  Three of our sales consultants have bought the 2013 Ford Fusion Energi and one of our sales consultants has bought the C-Max Energi!  These two cars are giving people in Salisbury, Maryland, Dover, Delaware, and Easton, Maryland something to talk about!  They both get impressive gas mileage and not to mention that they are eco-friendly! The C-Max Energi has advanced powertrain which includes a 2.0L I-4 Atkinson-cycle gasoline engine with an electric motor to generate 188 total system horsepower, which delivers the responsive power you want when you need it.  The C-Max Energi plug in hybrid model has the best combined MPGe with an EPA estimate 108 city/92hwy/100 combined MPGe.  MPGe is the EPA equivalent measure of gasoline fuel efficiency for electric mode operation.  The Ford C-Max Energi also comes with an intelligent access with push-button start.  You can unlock your C-Max without even having to take your keys out of your pocket or your purse.  All you have to do is press your finger on the door handle to open the door.  When you have entered the vehicle all you have to do is hold down the brake pedal and press the power button.  Your C-Max Energi will then start and you are ready to drive to your destination!  This feature is standard on the C-Max SEL Hybrid and the C-Max Energi.  Also featured on the C-Max is SmartGauge with EcoGuide, this is an innovative cluster that provides real time information to help you get the most efficiency from your Energi vehicle.  The SmartGauge features a “MyView” screen so drivers can customize screens to their liking.  A screen such as Brake Coach helps you maximize your vehicle’s efficiency.  The screens include Enlighten, Empower, and Engage and explains your options within each.  You can also access your MyFord Touch screens using the next-generation SmartGauge. The Ford Fusion Energi like the C-Max Energi also has a 2.0L Atkinson Cycle I-4 Engine and Electric Motor and next-generation SmartGauge with EcoGuide.  Another feature you can get on the Fusion Energi is SYNC with MyFord Touch as well as a 10-way power driver seat with 3 memory settings. It also can get an estimated 108 mpg city and 92 mpg highway!  The Fusion Energi has a mode called EV mode.  When operating in EV Mode the Fusion Energi is down 70 horsepower compared with hybrid mode, the decrease is masked by the electric motor’s immediately available torque and good accelerator-pedal response, which makes launches from rest feel very quick.  The Fusion Energi plug in can do a full tilt acceleration run without deciding on its own switch on the internal combustion engine.  When you have selected EV mode with a button on the center console the car will heed your command unless you hold the pedal to the floor and keep it there.  A great feature standard on the Fusion Energi is the MyFord Mobile.  This app lets you monitor and schedule the charging of your Fusion Energi from anywhere in order to help you maximize your range.  It can give you remote charging status updates and can check charge levels and available range.  It can also provide you with the location of your vehicle if you are not in it, where you can find the nearest charging stations, and the most efficient route to get there.  The standard 120V convenience charge cord allows you to fully charge your Fusion Energi in about 7 hours! Plug your vehicle in when you get home from work and let it charge overnight, by the time you get up in the morning your vehicle will be charged and ready to go! Available for both the C-Max Energi and Fusion Energi is the 240-Volt charging station. Along with this charging station comes installation services from AeroVironment.  If you decide to have a unit installed an AeroVironment affiliated electrician will perform an electrical audit and then install the 240-volt charging station.  The electrician that comes to install the system will handle everything including securing the required permits.  The unit can also be plugged into a 240-volt outlet for nonpermanent installation, easy removal or replacement. The Ford versus Chevy rivalry is the automotive equivalent of the rivalry between the Baltimore Orioles and the New York Yankees.  As today’s technology and design rapidly change vehicles like the Ford Fusion and Taurus have little to do with their predecessors.  This excludes two very special cars, the Ford Mustang and the Chevrolet Camaro.  These four seat, rear wheel drive cars have been battling it out since roughly 1967. In the early 1960’s Ford decided to build a cheap, sporty, attractive car to attract younger buyers.  The Mustang debuted at the New York World’s Fair on April 17, 1964.  The car became the fastest selling vehicle in car history.  When Chevrolet saw the remarkable success of the Mustang they launched the Camaro in 1967.  The two cars were the perfect rivals, while quite roomy by modern standards they both passed as compact cars at the time.  The winning formula was that both cars rely on sporty styling and optimal V8 engines. The 2014 Mustang impressed everyone with both its interior and exterior updates, making the Ford a more-refined muscle car.  The Mustang however doesn’t drop its roots as it maintains the classic body style of the original concept Mustang from the 60’s.  The new 2014 Mustang delivers an astounding 420 horesepower.  The Camaro is a sports car however, the Mustang is still the most recognizable vehicle in America and wins in a battle to be the best. This month is breast cancer and everyone is doing what they can to support breast cancer and help find a cure.  Ford Warriors in Pink just recently unveiled a limited edition t-shirt which was designed by actor  Gilles Marini.  This t-shirt is available now at www.fordcares.com.  One hundred percent of the net proceeds will go to the Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation which is dedicated to finding the cause of breast cancer in order to stop the disease before it starts. Ford Warriors in Pink The Ford commitment to breast cancer awareness runs well beyond raising funds.  2013, is Ford’s 19 th year of support and dedication to making a difference 365 days a year by encouraging women to become informed and visit their doctors and educating them about how early detection saves lives. Ford created the limited edition Warrior in Pink apparel and accessory items for women, men and children.  Each of the apparel items feature important symbols signifying a message of hope, strength and unity in the commitment to fight breast cancer.  Ford has dedicated more the $120 million to the cause. The Pink Fishing Truck and Preston Automotive Groups Pink Drive to Inspire Truck Preston Automotive Group has sponsored Saving Second Base which is a breast cancer awareness fundraiser.  Saving Second Base has held many events in the past.  One of them included a concert featuring Billy Currington, David Nail and the Eastern Shore’s own Eric Karge.  At this event which was held on June 1, 2013 there was also a live auction.  Saving Second Base donates their proceeds from their events to the American Cancer Society.  The event held June 1, 2013 raised $80,000 for breast cancer! Preston Automotive group has also sponsored Ryan Abey and Pink Fishing: Reeling for a Cure.  Pink Fishing is a woman owned company.  Their Pink Fishing logo incorporates the breast cancer awareness ribbon as the “P” in pink.  Pink Fishing is part of the solution to finding a cure, they are “Reeling in the Cure” one t-shirt at a time.  They have committed to make a donation of $5,000 dollars to the National Breast Cancer Foundation Inc. for the year of 2013 and have happily surpassed this goal! On Friday April 5, 2013 Preston Automotive Group held a “Go Bald or Go Pink” in support of one of our own who was diagnosed with cancer.  At this event people went bald and shaved their heads or women could get a pink feather  in their hair to support breast cancer.  The amount of support was amazing.  Most men shaved their heads to show their support.  There was also Zumba at the event and vendors to support all the hungry guests! Having a navigation system can be one of the biggest conveniences when going out of town or on long road trips.  However, this convenience opens up many security risks that didn’t exist before navigation came about.  A GPS device left mounted in your car could be an indicator to a thief that there might be other material wealth.  Even if your navigation system is contained in your touch screen monitor that is now located in many cars, there is still a risk of theft.  Thieves target nicer cars with GPS systems in them and when they break into the vehicle they can access all the places you have put into your navigation system.  This includes your home address if you have saved that into your navigation system.  A thief who picks his/her target carefully knows you’re not going to be back at the car for a while and won’t be home for some time either, according to the Department of Justice.  Burglars gain confidence when they can be certain that the owner won’t be home to call the police.  For example, say there is a ball game that has just started, a burglar can assume you will not be to your car or home within a few hours giving them an opportunity to do as they please and take what they can find.  Being able to take your GPS and pull up your home address undisturbed, gives a robber this confidence. Navigation System If you have a GPS device such as a Garmin or one that can be removed from your vehicle you should get in the habit of removing your GPS from the vehicle every time you leave.  If it is too big to fit into your purse you can put it into your glove box or under your seat.  Be sure not to leave your GPS in plain sight you would not leave your Smartphone or tablet in the car for someone to see.  If you can see marks from the mount on your windshield you should wipe them off so a burglar doesn’t know you have a gps. If you cannot secure your device, if it is in your dash in your monitor then do not put your home address under the tab “Home”.  Instead under the home tab you can put the address of something near your home such as a police station, this way if someone steals your car they cannot find out where you live.  Make sure that the destination is far enough away but still close so that you still know how to get home. Some GPS manufacturers have devices that require pins in order to gain access into the controls.  If you can drive safely by using your Smartphone for GPS then you can certainly do that.  Most people will not leave their phones or tablets in their cars but often will leave their GPS on the dash not thinking about the possible dangers. Another idea to keep in mind is that if your car is stolen and you have your home address in the system and your garage door opener in the vehicle, the theft can access your house through your garage door opener.  Make sure to take precautions when entering your home address into any device that can be stolen, if you do choose to enter it into your GPS device or navigation system then make sure the address is not labeled as “home”. This Saturday September 21, 2013 Overtime Live has joined Preston Ford and the Seven Seas Yacht Service to give everyone a chance to fight back against cancer at the Route 18 Park in Centreville, Maryland! The Kickin Kids Cancer Kickball Tournament and Festival will be a day of fun starting with the inaugural kick ball tournament.  The kickball tournament involves 16 teams and is double elimination! The first round of kickball games will begin at 9 a.m. and the championship game will take place at 6 p.m.  There will also be a classic car/truck/race car show, a tricky tray auction, silent auction and of course live entertainment!  The entertainment will start at 8:55 a.m. with Katelynn Cherry and move on to Robert Dunmyer, Hot Tub Limo, Radio Edit, Acoustic Roots, and lastly Sean’s Pietras and Soundbelief! From 1 p.m. until 3p.m, Compass Point Mortgage presents the Washington Redskins Cheerleaders!  There will also be plenty of activities for the children such as games, moon bounces, and face painting! If you get hungry there will also be plenty of vendors on site as well! In 2009 Kick-It was founded by 10 year old cancer patient Quinn Clarke who had a big dream to cure cancer by playing kickball.  Then in 2012, Jeff Gordon Children’s Foundation teamed up with Kick-It to help promote and raise funds for the most promising research studies and projects.  By being and important part of the fight to cure childhood cancer, just like a walk or 5k race, team members ask family, friends, and co-workers to sponsor them to play.  Bring your “A” game and childhood memories of kickball to help children beat cancer!  Awards will go to both the championship winning team and the team that manages to raise the most money.  Special awards will go to the highest finishing high school and Emergency Personnel teams. Funds raised benefit children’s cancer research across the country.  Kick-It partners with national medical advisory boards to identify the most promising research studies and projects.  Some projects include a study of malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumors at Harvard Medical College; The Children’s Tumor Foundation, Clinical research of the Children’s Oncology Group which reaches 90 percent of the children with cancer in the United States.  Kick-It has once simple goal and that is to accelerate the cure for children with cancer.  They believe no parent should have to watch a child wait for a cure.  By organizing a game, joining a team or making a donation you are helping thousands of children fighting cancer in your hometown and across the country. To Donate:  You can donate to a particular kickball player, to a specific team or simply donate to this wonderful organization.  You will then be considered a virtual player for your kindness!  You can also donate in honor of someone special, or in memory of a loved one.  Your donation will be acknowledged publicly at this kickball event.  A $50 donation for a non-player will get you a free event t-shirt. When the 2015 Ford Mustang finally surfaces it could weigh as much as 400 pounds less than the current model.  The current Ford Mustang V6 weighs about 3,523 pounds with an automatic transmission.  With car buyers searching for the most fuel efficient vehicles the Ford Mustang shedding 400 pounds will help it become more fuel efficient.  It is also said that the new Ford Mustang will be slightly smaller with less overhang on all the sides.  The overall length of the 2015 Ford Mustang will be around 15 inches shorter and 6.5 inchers narrower than the current model.
