Ford Motor Company: Top Vehicle in 2015 - F series

Ford Motor Company: Top Vehicle in 2015 - F series When it comes to the Top Vehicles of 2015, the winner is the best selling and most profitable Ford: The Ford F series. Loaded models like the 2016 Ford F-150 Limited were some of the biggest contributors to Fords “Bottom Line” in 2015. The F series is Americas best-selling vehicle lineup. Why is it Fords “Best Vehicle” Ford investors don’t consider fuel efficiency, towing capacity or packages when it comes to considering what the “best vehicle is.” It’s all and only about profit. Even though we don’t know the exact profits of the F series because Ford obviously keeps that a close secret we can only safely assume that no Ford vehicles come close to generating as much profit as the 2015 North American Truck of the Year. Even with the Ford Motor Company halting sales last year they were still able to sell an impressive 753,851 F-series trucks in the US, making it American’s best seller! Currently, through November Ford sales were up 2.3%. Best Seller and Most Profitable Of course, the sheer number of sales makes the F series a big deal. But to become Fords Top Vehicle, the investors at Ford are looking for profit. The average transition price for an F-Series truck in November was $42,800. That's up $2,700 from a year ago. Low-interest rates, cheaper gas prices, and longer terms loans available all played a role in that increase. We're sure the redesign for the 2015 model year had a little to do with it has well. Customers are looking for Luxury Vehicles The Ford motor company is really good at enticing customers to purchase features on the F series that were unheard of in a pickup truck 25 years ago. Ford more or less invented the idea of a luxury pickup with its first King Ranch model in 2001. General Motor and Chrysler have since followed suit, but nothing compares to the Ford F-series. The F-series isn’t just America’s best-selling vehicle, its Americans best-seller over $50,000, too. So to sum this all up, given its huge sales volumes and likely profit margins, the F-series is, without a doubt, the biggest and best of the Ford lineup in North America — and North America is the most profitable market region.

North American Car of The Year Finalist

Preston Automotive is proud to have two manufacturers make the list of finalist this year. The Mazda MX-5 Miata took the nomination for the North American Car of the Year, and the Nissan Titan XD has been named a finalist for the North American Truck of the Year. Today at the Detroit auto show the Automotive Press Association announced that five out of six finalists are import vehicles. This group of finalist ties the 2012 group of the finalist for the second-highest number of imports at five. The group of finalist are chosen from a very short list of ten cars and 12 pickups, crossovers and SUVs created by a jury of 53 automotive journalists. The Mazda Miata beat out an impressive list of competitors for this distinguished honor, including the BMW 7 Series, Cadillac C76, Chevy Camaro, Chevy Volt, Kia Optima and Toyota Prius. This legendary two-seater has a 155-hp 2.0-liter four-cylinder with a six-speed manual; a six-speed automatic is optional. Its use of aluminum keeps weight down, so the Miata remains eminently fun in the twists and turns that you’ll seek out whenever you hit the road. The all-new 2016 Nissan Titan XD hasn’t even hit the ground at Preston Nissan, but it should be available within the next month. The Titan took the votes from the Honda CR-V, Kia Sorento, Lexus RX, Telsa Model X and Toyota Tacoma. The 2016 Titan XD will use a fortified version of the beefy, fully boxed frame that carries the current Titan. The Titan will be able to handle a payload rating in the excess or 2000 and max towing of 12,000 pounds. The Titan was also a finalist in 2004. Vehicles must be new or significantly altered to be eligible to become a North America Car or Truck of the year. Judges are looking for a flawless design and a superior driver satisfaction rating among many other things. The Volkswagen Golf and Ford F-150 were named 2015 Car and Truck of the Year. Ford least all automakers with ten wins since the awards inception in 1994. Chrysler, Nissan, and Hyundai have won multiple awards. The Preston Automotive Group is proud to represent all of the brands mentioned above.

mission possible 3 preston ford top 100

Preston Ford Takes Aim for the Top 100 in December

Preston Ford is on another mission this December; they are calling it Mission: Possible 3.  The sales consultants and managers are gearing up for another Top 100 finish.  The goals, similar to years past, are to be the #1 Ford Dealer in the region, Top 10 in the Nation Month to Date (MTD), and Top 85 Year to Date (YTD).  Preston is going to need help and they are asking that of their valued customers.  The Top 85 would be the second highest ranking they’ve ever achieved.  Last year they blew away their goal and reached number 72 in the Nation (YTD). For this year, David Wilson Jr. and the Preston Team have amassed the largest Ford inventory on the entire east coast.  They have an incredible selection of 2015 and 2016 Ford F-150s and nearly 100 of both the 2016 Ford Fusion and the Ford F-250 Super Duty.  This wide selection will allow each and every customer to find the exact Ford vehicle that fits his or her needs.  Preston Ford is encouraging new and past customers to come see their large inventory, spread out on their 38 acre lot, and get a great deal on a new or pre-owned Ford. They are starting out the month of December at number 115 in the Nation (YTD). Preston Ford Lincoln will need the support they get from the residents of Preston, Easton, Salisbury, Seaford, Dover and all the towns and cities across the Eastern Shore of Maryland and Delaware to be able to achieve their goal of being one of the Top 85 Ford dealers in the country. Preston even has the largest selection of Ford Commercial Trucks and Vans, so if you are a small business owner in need of another vehicle for your fleet then you are in luck! We have 2016 F-250s, Transits, Transit Connects, Cutaways and more! And now through the end of the year you can take advantage of the Section 179 Tax Deduction for Small Businesses! History of the Top 100 and Preston Ford Preston Ford actually has a history of making the list of Top 100 Ford Dealers in the Nation each of the past few years!  This is a huge accomplishment for the small town of Preston.  Starting in 2009 Preston Ford was 109 th in the nation out of all 3,300 Ford dealers.  In 2010 Preston Ford was 93 rd in the Top 100 Ford Dealers in the nation.  In 2011, Preston Ford again moved up in the ranks to 89 th place for their second Top 100 finish.  When 2012 came around, Preston made it to 102 nd place – just barely missing the Top 100 Ford Dealers in the nation.  However, in 2013 Preston Ford returned to the ranks of the Top 100 equaling their highest mark to date – 89 th in the nation. That record was shattered in 2014 when they finished at 72nd in the nation! They are looking to have similar success as the year winds down in 2015. David Wilson Jr., Preston Automotive Group Vice President, explains that “if there ever was a time to buy a vehicle from Preston Ford now is it!”  Preston Ford currently has over 1,000 new Fords to choose from, and that’s not even counting their pre-owned Ford inventory.  This is by far the largest inventory on the Eastern Shore.  Including F-150s, Escapes, Fusions, Explorers and many more!  Not only does Preston Ford have the standard vehicles, but they also have a large inventory of commercial vehicles to choose from. Preston Ford is part of the Preston Automotive Group, which serves the Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and Pennsylvania areas with Ford, Lincoln, Mazda, Hyundai, Nissan, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram brands. The auto group carries the largest selection of new and used cars and trucks. Additionally, the dealership services all makes and models, both imported and domestic cars with ASE certified and factory trained technicians. To further serve your automotive needs the Preston Automotive Group is also home to three auto body shops conveniently located around Delmarva in Preston, Cambridge, and Snow Hill, Maryland. Recently Preston Automotive Group added a new Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram location in Millsboro, Delaware.

Preston ford colors of cancer gala

Preston Ford Receives Award for Fighting Against Cancer

With all the efforts Preston Ford has made in the past several years to raise awareness about breast cancer, they were nominated and chosen by the Colors of Cancer Committee to receive the 2016 Community Partnership Honoree Award. The Colors of Cancer is a local organization that recognizes our local heroes of Talbot County! The organization’s committee receives nominations from people in the community to honor hometown heroes, which include: medical professional honorees,  community partnership honorees, volunteer honorees and honorary chairs. The Preston Automotive Group has strong ties to breast cancer. Our Executive Vice President, Peggy Wilson, and our Vice President’s Executive Assistant, Diana Vincent, both have been touched by breast cancer. So, every year Preston Ford does several things to support the fight against cancer. For instance, this year they donated $100 for every vehicle sold out of each of their 10 dealerships in the Auto Group from October 14th-17th to the American Cancer Society. They also usually have an event called Paint the Plex Pink sometime in October. This year it had to be canceled because of an unexpected power outage, but usually we will have music, food and games for kids and adults. Everyone is encouraged to come dressed in pink and it is a good time all while raising awareness and money to fight breast cancer The Preston Auto Group has also been giving out pink frogs instead of the regular green frogs throughout Breast Cancer Awareness Month (October). You know how the NFL encourages its players to wear pink shoes, gloves, socks, etc. during the month of October? Well, that’s what we do here at Preston. Our employees are all encouraged to wear pink as well as give a away the pink frogs with every vehicle purchase. All year long we even have a fleet of five Ford trucks and vans wrapped in pink driving around to our various dealerships and events we are sponsoring. In Colors of Cancer’s sixth year, Chairwoman Michele Williams of Trappe, MD, is happy to award Preston Ford. We have been in the area for over three decades and we try hard to make a difference in our community. We are very pleased to receive this award from the Colors of Cancer. The 2016 Colors of Cancer Gala will be on April 2, 2016 at the Tred Avon Yacht Club, in Oxford Maryland. Tickets can be purchased on the Colors of Cancer Website if more people would like to attend the Gala to see Preston Ford receive our Award. The Gala is a plated and served meal with a silent auction and will be from 6 pm-10 pm.

Millsboro Jeep Logo

Jeep Wrangler at Millsboro Jeep

As a testament to its uncompromised off-road capability and impressive on-road handling, Four Wheeler magazine named Wrangler Rubicon the “4x4 of the Decade.” The Preston Automotive Group is proud to announce that addition of another manufacturer to our already impressive line of automakers, Millsboro Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram. Millsboro Jeep is your Jeep headquarters located at 28362 Dupont Blvd, Millsboro, DE 19966. In the 1940’s Jeep was solicited along with 134 other automakers to produce a vehicle tailored to the US Army. Only three automakers responded and Jeep ended up winning the bid. In only seventy-five days the, “The Quad” became a functional war vehicle. The Jeep brand currently manufactures and produces five models, but nine vehicles are under the brand name or use the Jeep logo. The Jeep Renegade, Wrangler, Grand Cherokee, Compass and Patriot will all be available at your local Jeep dealership in Millsboro Delaware. Today, the Wrangler is one of the few remaining four-wheel drive vehicles with solid front and rear axles. Known for its durability, strength and articulation we can see why Jeep has become one of the most popular brands on the road today. Useful features of the smaller Jeeps are their short wheelbases, narrow frames, ample approach, break over, and departure angles, allowing them to fit into places where full-size four-wheel drives have difficulty. Engine and Mechanical features include the option of a standard 3.6L V6 24 Valve VVT Engine or a 6-Speed Manual Transmission. Such an engine allows up to 17 MPG city and 21 MPG highway. Safety features have been a staple of the Jeep brand for many years. Electronic Roll Mitigation (ERM) is just one of the many standard safety features available. ERM uses the Electronic Stability Control sensors to reduce the potential for wheel lift during severe or evasive driving maneuvers Wanna know more? Your local Jeep dealer Millsboro Jeep is confident that it can provide you with excellent customer service, the largest inventory and the lowest prices. Stop by and visit us today, again we are located at 28362 Dupont Blvd, Millsboro, DE 19966.

2016 Nissan Titan

Why 2016 Nissan Titan is the Best Thing Since Sliced Bread

2016 Nissan Titan: The 2016 Nissan Titan Diesel is on the way, and it's already being considered the next generation of pickup trucks. The Nissan Titan is currently selling as many units in a month as other half-ton competitors sell in a single day or weekend. With only 7,175 trucks sold through July, Titan held only 0.59 percent of the US full-size truck market, according to automotive news. Why is that important? Because, 30-40 percent of truck buyers return to buy a new model from their favorite brand. Nissan is looking to hop on that train with the new 2016 Nissan Titans. The Cummins powered 2016 Titan XD is the first of a family of all new trucks with heavy-duty attitude and a full-size sense. The 2015 model is available in a 5.6-Liter V8, and at 15 MPG combined is not a particularly fuel-efficient one. The new 2016 Titan has a mass gross vehicle weight rating of 8,500, which makes it exempt from EPA fuel economy testing. Nissan will not disclose its EPA but expects the V8 to surpass fuel economy of it competitors gasoline V8 engines, even when unloaded. The first Launch will be a long-wheelbase crew XD crew cab model, sporting a new look and fitted with a Cummins turbo diesel V8 engine. The 2016 Titan XD will use a fortified version of the beefy, fully boxed frame that carries the current Titan. There will be two frame sizes, with the larger of the two being the XD. Three Configurations will be available on this monster heavy duty truck, the king, crew, and standard. Five trim levels and three different bed lengths make for a Titan for every need! The 2016 Nissan Titan is expected to hit the market in the upcoming weeks ahead. If you would like a call when this Diesel Titan hits the grounds, please give Sales Manager at Preston Nissan, Keith Biggar Jr a call to be added to this exclusive list of Titan Lovers! He can be contacted at 410-673-7171. ( So would you rather have a slice of bread or a 2016 Nissan Titan? ) Thought, so!

Bringing My Car to College: Yes or No?

It’s that time of year again: back to school. Some are back already and some have a couple more weeks of summer vacation left. But there’s one main consideration that you have to think about: Should I bring my car to college? Of course everyone would like to have a car on campus, but is it allowed or is it practical? We’ll help you see the pro’s and con’s of whether or not you should bring your car with you. First of all, are you even allowed to have one on campus? That will depend on where you’re attending. Some will flat out not allow freshman or upperclassmen to bring a car with them. Others will allow it, but students will be required to purchase a parking pass. Typically information like this can be found on the college or university’s website, so you will want to make sure you know their policy before you get there for move-in. Cost is another important thing to think about. Many college students are on an Easy Mac and Ramen-Noodle type of budget, so gas, repairs, parking permits, and other costs are out of the question. If this is the case then maybe you should leave the car at home. If you are going to bring it make sure you have some money saved up for these unexpected costs which include parking tickets don't forget. Find out about alternative transportation options too. Many campuses will have a school-operated shuttle system. They even get creative with the names too. For instance, the University of Miami has the Hurry ‘Canes shuttles, and students at UCLA can take the BruinBus. These options can be particularly helpful in urban settings such as D.C., Baltimore, Philadelphia or New York City. So you have to weigh your options to see if it would in fact be worth it to bring your car to college. If you need it to get you to-and-from a job or your parents house, then by all means take it. But we suggest that you enjoy your college days without one of the major responsibilities of adulthood: Car ownership.

car care awareness recommended vehicle maintenance

Recommended Vehicle Maintenance Schedule - Car Care Awareness Month

If you follow our blog, then you already know that April has been deemed Car Care Awareness Month.  As Spring turns into Summer you’re going to want to have your vehicle’s maintenance in tip top shape.  So, we, along with carcare.org, have put together a list of regular maintenance items that you should be checking and how often. There are a handful of things that you should be checking regularly — before any longer trip of 50 miles or more and every now and then in between — just to be safe.  You’ll want to find out about any Dashboard Indicator Lights that are on.  This includes but is not limited to the check engine, low engine oil, low tire pressure, and door ajar lights.  You’ll also want to check out your actual lights.  That would be Headlights, Taillights, Turn Signals, etc.  Some of these are illegal to drive if they are burnt out. Tire Inflation and Condition is another thing that should be checked frequently.  We mentioned the tire inflation dashboard light but your tires may be low without the light being on — AND most older cars don’t even warn you.  If you are driving with under or over-inflated tires, that will cause them to wear unevenly.  It’s alway important to look for irregular wear on your tires, so that way you know what to do to fix it.  Whether it may be needing an alignment or simply putting some air in or taking some air out like we said before, and that it is important to regularly check your tires.  Another thing you should be checking often would be Windshield Washer Fluid. It is important to be able to see while driving (obviously), so being able to clean your windshield off at a moments notice is imperative.  Make sure your washer fluid is somewhere close to the Full line.  One of the last things we recommend you check frequently is your Engine Oil Level. If we had to rank the most important components of a car, then the engine would be at the top because without an engine the car would not go.  That being said, the engine wouldn’t matter at all without oil, so if you think about it, that means engine oil is the most important component of a car.  And just because you got an oil change last month, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be checking the oil level several times before the next change.  You could have a slow leak, your oil cap could have been put back on loosely, or any number of other reasons, and then you may find yourself with a blown engine. Now that you know what to check on a regular basis — once twice a month — here are the maintenance items you should be checking (or getting someone to check) every 3 moths or 3,000 miles. 3 Months / 3,000 Mile Maintenance Automatic Transmission Fluid Battery and Cables Belts Dashboard Indicator Light On Engine Air Filter Engine Oil Exhaust Hoses Lights Power Steering Fluid Tire Inflation and Condition Windshield Washer Fluid You probably noticed that some of this was repeated from regular maintenance.  That is simply our way to stress that you keep on top of it at a minimum of every 3 months.  The following will be the maintenance that we recommend to have completed every 6 months or 6,000 miles. 6 Months / 6,000 Mile Maintenance Automatic Transmission Fluid Battery and Cables Belts Chassis Lubrication Dashboard Indicator Light On Engine Air Filter Engine Oil Exhaust Hoses Lights Power Steering Fluid Tire Inflation and Condition Windshield Washer Fluid Wiper Blades All these items are important, but the ones that should stick out to you are the fluids: the transmission fluid, engine oil, and power steering fluid.  These are all extremely important to making a car “go” and should be check at a minimum of every 6,000 miles.  The next set of maintenance recommendations are to be completed every 9 months or 9,000 miles. 9 Months / 9,000 Mile Maintenance Automatic Transmission Fluid Battery and Cables Belts Dashboard Indicator Light On Engine Air Filter Engine Oil Exhaust Hoses Lights Power Steering Fluid Tire Inflation and Condition Windshield Washer Fluid All of this is repeat checks, but that is only because the next big check should be coming every year or 12,000 miles.  Depending on your state regulations, this is usually when you will have a car inspection.  However, if you aren’t required to get an inspection every year, as it is in Maryland, then you should be doing these things on your own. 12 Months/ 12,000 mile Maintenance Automatic Transmission Fluid Battery and Cables Belts Brakes Cabin Air Filter Chassis Lubrication Dashboard Indicator Light On Coolant (Antifreeze) Engine Air Filter Engine Oil Exhaust Hoses Lights Power Steering Fluid Steering and Suspension Tire Inflation and Condition Wheel Alignment Windshield Washer Fluid Wiper Blades Hopefully you are keeping up on your vehicles maintenance.  We can’t force you to keep your car up to date on it’s maintenance, but we can provide the information you need to do it yourself and we will certainly be there to help you if there’s something your can’t do yourself.  You can bring your vehicle into one of Preston Automotive Group’s several dealership service locations.  We will complete the maintenance and give you a complete rundown of what was completed.  It takes all the pressure off of you and you will have the peace of mind knowing that you are driving in a safe and maintained vehicle.

car care aware logo

April is National Car Care Awareness Month!

Join the Preston Automotive Group in celebrating Car Care Awareness Month!  If you think about it, your vehicle is probably your second largest investment (second to your house if you own one).  If you have a vehicle you probably use it to drive to work every day, transport the kids to their activities, and get you to and from various other places, right?  And if it broke down or started to work improperly, then you might be in kind of a pickle, right?  Well, the goal of Car Care Awareness Month is to make sure people know how they should be taking care of their vehicle. Last year during Nationwide Car Care Inspections, 84% failed at least one component of the inspection.  That means nearly every one of these drivers were potentially driving around in an unsafe vehicle.  Now, that number could be reflecting failures such as faulty taillights, low washer fluid, or some other small issue, but nonetheless it is a safety hazard if it causes your vehicle to fail an inspection.  There are all kinds of numbers that would scare you such as nearly 1 in 5 vehicles needed a new air filter, or 13% had the “check engine” light on.  But here’s the bottom line: most people don’t know what kind of regular maintenance should be completed on a car at each specific milestone. Another part of Car Care Awareness’ mission is to give you the knowledge so you can detect small issues early before they turn into big problems.  Neglected vehicle care almost always means higher costs down the line.  The results found by carcare.org show that the majority of vehicle owners could save a substantial amount of money by being proactive in their vehicle maintenance. So, our goal this month, alongside the Car Care Council, will be to inform you of the best way to look after one of your largest investments.  Whether you have a new or pre-owned vehicle, there are certain steps and precautions to take, and that is what we will be highlighting all month long!

2015 saleen 302 black label mustang

Saleen's Ultimate Ford Mustang to Join the Lineup

According to Road & Track, the 2015 Saleen Mustang 302 Black Label is coming.  And it's fast.  This range-topping Mustang will reportedly output 730 horsepower!  This will easily be the most capable Mustang Saleen has produced to date. It's bodywork consists of multiple carbon-fiber components and other stylings that will set it apart from any stock Mustang.  It gets a couple inches boost from front to back enabling it to have improved downward force. Its chassis upgrades consist of new Saleen springs, shocks, swaybars and bushings. The Saleen-designed 20-inch wheels are wrapped in insanely thin, sporty tires. As expected, the interior will be incredibly extravagant yet have a distinct sport-feel.  From the classic three-spoke, leather-wrapped steering wheel to the large touchscreen display, you will be riding (fast) in style.  This will be Steve Saleen's 31st year of tuning and modifying Mustangs and his signature will be included on every Black Label model. As you may have heard, Preston Automotive Group will be the EXCLUSIVE Ford Saleen Dealer of Maryland and Delaware. We will be getting our first shipment of these bad boys around the first week of April! We have two Saleen Mustangs shipping out, however, we are not sure whether they will be Black Label 302's or not. Either way, we are certainly excited, and we hope you are too!
